Abstract
The lavas are divisible into five formations which form two separate lava sequences; the lower is best developed in the inner fjord region, the upper near the Atlantic coast. The sequences are interpreted as produced in two volcanic episodes in connection with failed rifting episodes during opening of the North Atlantic Ocean. The remains of a third sequence on the Atlantic coast apparently formed during active spreading.-W.S.W.
