Abstract

This paper describes progress on HarmoniRiB, a European Commission Framework 5 project. The HarmoniRiB project aims to support the implementation of the EU Water Framework Directive (WFD) by developing concepts and tools for handling uncertainty in data and modelling, and by designing, building and populating a database containing data and associated uncertainties for a number of representative basins. This river basin network aims at becoming a 'virtual laboratory for modelling studies', and it will be made available for the scientific community. The data may, e.g. be used for comparison and demonstration of methodologies and models relevant to the WFD.
