Abstract

High Alpine areas have been seeing more tourists in the past few decades, in part because of the increased infrastructure and transport now available at higher elevations. Glacial and peri-glacial areas are becoming foci of attraction for tourists during the summer months, and climbing, mountaineering, and trekking are becoming more and more popular, attracting masses of sports-minded visitors.
