The map shows the deposits in the western part of the Baltic Sea. The geological development of this sea has been very changeable. After the last glaciation it was a freshwater lake, but in Atlantic time an opening to Kattegat resulted in inflow of salt water and it changed to a brackish sea. The bottom sediments record these events. The sediments and bedforms indicate the strong current created by the intensive exchange of water with Kattegat.
