Abstract
Pedersen et al. (2018) use offshore sediment volumes to carry out inverse modelling of the Scandinavian landscape during the Cenozoic. Close inspection of the source area(s) for the sediment volume used in the study reveals that multiple source areas were responsible for the sediments fringing Scandinavia. In addition to a much more complex origin of the sediments than just Scandinavia, no consideration about the caliber of the sediments, transport media, maturation of the sediments and climate is included in the modelling by Pedersen et al. (2018). The study exposes a large gap between geological observations and modelling.
