Abstract

Most published Cambrian sea level curves are rather crude. This is regrettable, as reliable sea level recon-structions (both global and local) are very useful for correlation of strata, unravelling depositional patterns, identifying local depth anomalies relating to tectonic overprint and, not least, analyzing evolutionary pat-terns, for instance whether sea level changes influenced the various phases of the 'Cambrian Explosion'.
