Abstract
In 2026, the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland (GEUS) carried out a 2D reflection seismic survey around the village of Storvorde, east of Aalborg in northern Jutland, with the primary goal to characterise the subsurface prior to the drilling of a deep geothermal well. The seismic acquisition was funded by the Energy Technology Development and Demonstration Programme (EUDP) as part of the Heat4Ever project led by Green Therma.
The survey comprised 78.9 km seismic data from eight profiles, which were acquired during six weeks from February 28th to April 22nd, 2026. The target depth was the sedimentary successions at 4–6 km depth in the Sorgenfrei–Tornquist Zone.
The technical design and acquisition were led by GEUS, with in-house seismic equipment, using one 16.5 tonnes vibroseis truck as source. The acquisition was carried out without any major deviations or challenges.
