Abstract

Quantification of biomarkers such as hopanes and steranes in crude oils and sediments has always been a challenge due to the lack of good internal standards. Commonly used standardshave been 5β(H)-cholane and deuterated steranes. Here, we present a new carbon 13 labelled sterane.
