Curriculum vitae
Professor Jens Aamand, Ph.D. is employed at the department of geochemistry, GEUS where he is responsible for the microbiology laboratory. During his employment at GEUS he has been working on development of different remediation technologies for organic pollutants. He has been the leader of several larger research programmes and has specialist experience in project management and organisation. In addition, he is specialist in the promotion of collaboration between scientists working within different research area. During his employment at GEUS he has supervised/supervise 18 Ph.D. students of which 13 work/worked on pesticide degradation in soil and groundwater, one work on biogeochemical processes in aquifers and two work/worked on development of immunological techniques for pesticide analysis. Several master students have been associated to the research. He has been senior researcher at GEUS since January 1995 where his research mainly has focused on immunological detection and microbial degradation of pesticides. He received a M.Sc. degree and a Ph.D. degree in microbial ecology from the University of Copenhagen. Jens Aamand is specialist in microbial ecology and microbial processes in soil and groundwater including degradation of organic chemicals. He has extensive experience in development and use of immunological techniques to be used for quantification of bacteria and pesticides in water. He was affiliated to KU-Life as honoured professor in 2006 within the research area ‘Bioremediation – microbial soil remediation and groundwater protection From March 2012 he is hired as a professor at GEUS within the field of environmental biotechnology.
