Research topics: Groundwater-surface water interaction (lakes, wetlands, stream valleys, groundwater dependent ecosystems), conceptual hydrogeological models, ecohydrological field studies, soil properties (clay, chalk, peat), drought assessments.

  • National expert on drought damages on buildings at the Danish Natural Hazard Council (2022-present) – responsible for technical advice on a new natural drought damage scheme for damaged buildings.
  • Project lead (WP) on the EU-China research project PI-RURAL concerning restoration and protection of groundwater dependent ecosystems (2018-2022).
  • Project lead on several Danish Environmental Agency projects on developing of methods for the chemical and quantitative contact between groundwater bodies and rivers, lakes, coastal areas and GDE in Denmark (2017-2023).
  • Co-lead of research project CLEAR - Centre for Lake Restoration (2006-2016), Funded by Villum Foundation.
  • Participation in the research project NICA - Nitrate reduction in geologically heterogeneous catchments (2010-2013). Funded by Danish Council for Strategic Research.
  • Project lead (WP) on EU FP7 research project AQUAREHAB -  Development of rehabilitation technologies and approaches for multipressured degraded waters and the integration of their impact on river basin management (2009-2013)
  • Project lead (WP) on the REMTEC research project Innovative remediation and assessment technologies for contaminated soil and groundwater (2008-2011) funded by Danish Council for Strategic Research.
  • Deputy coordinator on EU research project Harmonirib - Harmonised techniques and representative river basin data for assessment and use of uncertainty information in integrated water management (2002-2006)
