Resumé
The Pesticide Leaching Assessment Programme has proven a useful supplement for the existing procedures of pesticide approval. The system makes it possible to measure leaching of pesticides and their metabolites under actual field cropping conditions. Thereby the system can contribute to the necessary scientific basis needed, when it is evaluated whether the approved pesticides apply with the regulations.
Three years of monitoring for 27 pesticides have shown that:
• Two pesticides leached from the root zone in unacceptably, high concentrations
• Fourteen other pesticides have been seen leaching, however concentrations did not exceed the limit of 0.1 µg/l
• Eleven other pesticides did not leach at all.
