Abstrakt
Following the Karrat Fjord tsunami of June 2017 (Paris et al., 2019) the Geological Survey of
Denmark and Greenland have been tasked with assessing the landslide risk faced by Greenland. Initial assessments have shown that the Nuussuaq basin area, and Vaigat in particular are a ‘hotspot’ for landslide activity in the area, with previous events having occurred in 1952 and 2000 (Dahl-Jensen et al., 2004; Svennevig, 2019). As such, the marine fieldwork is focused on this area, in order to gather data to constrain tsunami models and to gather evidence relating to former landslide activity.
The Fjeldskred project marine survey aboard RV Sanna took place from 18 th of September to the 30 th of September 2019. Work included bathymetric and geophysical survey as well as sediment coring in selected locations. The cruise track and core locations are shown in Figure 1. The work was carried out without any adverse incidents in good weather conditions. Though the presence of icebergs in the eastern Vaigat limited the amount of work that could be undertaken near the settlements of Saqqaq and Qeqertaq.
