    Resumé

Two sets of orthoscopic satellite image maps have been produced based on the Spot multispectral data: one standard colour composite and the other with extacted geological information. The maps at scale 1:100 000 cover South-East Greenland south of the 62° N latitude. The standard colour composites make a good map base for most ofthe area they cover. The image maps with extracted geological information based on the spatial enhancement of the IHS-transformed Spot data are not useful for discriminating the lithological features. A more individual and careful spectral and spatial enhancement of the Spot data may in some instances discriminate between major lithological units. The better spectral range ofthe Landsat TM makes it superior to the Spot system when the enhancement of the lithological features is essential. A processing scheme based on the principal component transformed Landsat TM data turned out to be particularly effective for the enhancement of lithological features.
