Abstrakt
The Cenozoic North Sea Basin forms part of the larger Northwest European Basin (Vinken et al., 1988) that extends from the Atlantic shelves of Norway and Shetland in the north-west to the Carpathian Mountains in the south-east. After Eocene times, continuing post-rift subsidence in the North Sea Basin accomodated the deposition of up to 3000 m of Oligocene to Holocene sediments.
