Abstrakt

The GrIS plays a fundamental role in the climate of our planet and in the Arctic. The relatively high albedo of the ice sheet relative to the surrounding, darker, ice-free land and ocean reduces the amount of solar energy absorbed by Earth. The GrIS also inf lu-ences atmospheric circulation patterns because of its geographic location and prominent topography.
