Scientific focus areas
Extensive experience with sedimentology, 3D photogrammetry, interpretation of depositional environments, lithostratigraphic and petrophysical well log correlation, seismic mapping and sequence stratigraphy based on outcrop as well as subsurface studies as an input for the construction of geological models. Considerable knowhow on geological aspects relevant for geothermal energy recovery and CO2 storage. Project leader experience from several interdisciplinary projects. Dissemination and communication of geological related issues to various media.

Denmark, subsurface data:
- Evaluation of the deep geothermal potential nationwide and in local areas.
- Seismic and sequence stratigraphic interpretation of seismic data from the Danish North Sea (Oligocene).
- Sedimentology/sequence stratigraphy/well log correlation (Triassic–Jurassic).
- Groundwater protection/geology (Quaternary).
Greenland, outcrop studies:
- Sedimentology/sequence stratigraphy/3D photogrammetry (Jurassic-Cretaceous).
- Experience from 12 summers fieldwork in East and North-East Greenland.
Faroe Islands, outcrops studies:
- Reservoir architecture of interlava systems: 3D photogrammetry, sedimentology (Palaeogene).
Management experience
Project leader on:
- the geothermal projects “Geological data relevant to geothermal energy integrated in a web-based GIS platform” and “Screening of a number of cities for their geothermal potential.”
- a research project on the architecture of interlava systems on the Faroe Islands.
- a CO2 project for DONG Energy
- a water plan for Bornholm in relation to EU´s Water Framework Directive
Involved in formulating, planning and coordinating the tasks within the Danish Pesticide Leaching Assessment Programme, and academic and economic responsible for several subprojects within the programme.
